My mum went in originally from hospital as respite with the hope of going permanent. Mum is now permanent and although at first she was not happy to be leaving her home, understandably, she now seems to be settling in and even enjoying it. She loves the activities and the food (which she would not entertain
at home or in hospital). I have not yet met a member of staff who is not pleasant and kind. They are all so lovely to mum and encourage her to join in with things. From the minute we walked in the door to look around the home we have been made to feel welcome. We are continuously told this is mum's home and we can visit whenever which is great. Mum told me yesterday that it is nothing liked she imagined it to be like and she now feels safe and looked after. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the relief I have knowing when I am not with mum there are lovely people looking after her.

During the three weeks respite care, after major surgery (hip operation) I was warmly welcomed; cared for with understanding and received help when necessary. Mealtimes were a time to look forward to, suitably prepared for all our needs by the excellent Chef. Whilst arriving in a rather fragile & nervous
state, I very quickly started to feel at home and benefit from the personal care & everything going on around me: I have thanked the person who recommended me to you!

My dad is well looked after, the carers know his likes and dislikes and encourage him to participate in activities. He eats the food, usually a three course meal, but the carers will offer him an alternative if he doesn't want a particular meal.
Reply from Stefan Lupu, General Manager at Barchester Hampton Grove Care HomeThank you so much for sharing your experience. We are delighted to hear that your dad is happy and well cared for. It means a great deal to us that the carers have taken the time to get to know his personal likes and dislikes, helping him feel comfortable, valued, and supported each day.
We're also pleased to hear that he is encouraged to take part in activities and that the team supports him in making choices about his meals, always offering alternatives if something doesn't appeal to him. Providing person-centred care and creating a warm, enjoyable environment for our residents is extremely important to us.
Your kind words and recognition of the carers' dedication are truly appreciated, and we will be sure to share your feedback with the whole team. Thank you again for taking the time to leave such thoughtful comments.

My father has been at Hampton Grove for a month now and we couldn't have found a better place for him. Everyone has his needs at the heart of every interaction.
When i went to have an initial look around, the manager Stefan was able to answer all my questions and nothing was too much trouble. My dad

My dad stayed at Melbourn Springs care home after my mum passed away. It was a particularly difficult time but all of the staff were fantastic.
Our first meeting was with Mia, who showed us round the facilities. She was so professional, knowledgeable and sympathetic to our concerns.
Dad has been cared
for so well by Eddie and his team. They are always available to speak with and always greet us with a smile.
The events team, Anne and Janine work so hard to give the residents a variety of activities. They are so caring and mindful of everyone's needs.
The manager Vimukthika is very professional and although dad sadly needed to be transferred, she dealt with everything sensitively and seamlessly.
I would not hesitate to recommend Melbourn Springs. What a lovely care home.
Reply from Vimu Welisarage, General Manager at Barchester Melbourn Springs Care HomeHi Claire, Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. We're so pleased that Mia was able to provide reassurance and support from the very beginning and that Eddie and the team helped your dad feel so well cared for throughout his stay. Anne and Justine will be delighted to know their efforts to create engaging and meaningful activities have been appreciated. Your recommendation is incredibly valued and we're grateful you took the time to share your experience.

On the whole this is a good care home, but it only has very hard beds so not for you if you like softness. The food is adequate and the staff are lovely. Really helpful and kind. It is a little "down market" with Bingo several times a week, but there are a lot of other occupations available. Unfortunately
the garden needs a lot of attention which at present it is not getting. Could be very nice.
IMPORTANT. Needs handholds in shower - essential for safety.
STOP Lighting the "garden" at night. It is very bad for nature - plants, and the natural world. Also for the energy "crises"!
Reply from Barchester, The Feedback Team at Barchester Melbourn Springs Care HomeThanks for taking the time to leave a review, and for sharing your comments after your stay at Melbourn Springs Care Home. We're happy to hear that you found our staff to be kind and helpful, they will be pleased. The home offers lots of activities, and our bingo once a week is a real hit with our residents. If you have any other suggestions, please do let the home know. The home will look into the garden lighting, and though grab rails aren't fitted as standard in all our showers, these can be installed upon request for anyone that stays with us. Kind regards.

Delighted to report that the management & staff managed my husband extremely well. He has been in 3 different homes & twice he has escaped & had to come home early. Respite care for me has been very beneficial. I needed sleep & time for myself. After a few days; my husband wanted to leave. He refused
to wash, change his clothes, etc. A male nurse was requested but it didn't make any difference. Eventually, he became interested in the activities & enjoyed the company (& cake!) in the lounge area. He has enjoyed his food. He swims in the local pool with my carer who collects him & returns him to "Bayleaf". He loves swimming, & only once did he refuse to go, when in his rebellious faze after 1 1/2 weeks.
