Our mum moved into Lawton Rise on 30th September 2025 after her Alzheimer's progressed, as she needed to move from residential to nursing care. From the moment she arrived, we felt reassured that she was in the right place. The home is bright and welcoming, with light, comfortable rooms and a warm atmosphere.
There were always plenty of activities to keep residents engaged, and the food was consistently excellent.
What truly made a difference, though, were the staff. Every member of the team showed genuine kindness, patience and compassion. They went above and beyond to support Mum and to keep us informed and involved. Their care gave us confidence that she was safe, respected and treated with dignity every day.
Mum passed away suddenly on 20th November, just eight weeks after moving in. Although, this was an incredibly difficult time, we are deeply grateful for the outstanding care she received during her final weeks.
Reply from Jennifer Dale, GM at Barchester Lawton Rise Care HomeHi Julie, Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. It was a genuine pleasure to get to know all of you and to care for your lovely mother; I will make sure that I pass on your kind words to the team. We hope that yourself, Craig and the rest of the family are keeping well, Jennifer

The care at The Spires is exemplary. Very caring/loving staff for whom any request was no trouble. Food excellent portions/variety spot on.
Bathrooms need more grabrails on same wall as shower head. Shelf also would be useful to put shampoo/gel etc on. Separate towel rail outside of wet area would
be better.
Reply from Eva Recio Dominguez, General Manager at Barchester The Spires Care HomeThank you so much for your kind words , it means a lot to us. We're delighted to hear that you found the staff caring and attentive, and that you enjoyed the food and variety on offer. We also really appreciate your feedback regarding the bathrooms. Your suggestions about additional grab rails, a shelf for toiletries, and improved towel rail placement are very helpful, we continually look to improve our environment and will review this with our maintenance team. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

From the moment that Dad came into Lawton Rise, all of the staff have been excellent, empathy, understanding, care & compassion, I really can find no fault, every member of the team we came into contact with was just lovely.
Dad's passing was treated with the utmost dignity & that helped us to deal
with it too.
Too many superlatives to cover all of his care
Thank you.

My Mum has been living at Hilderstone Hall for over two years, during the times I have visted her, I have noticed how patient and caring all the staff are, the building is very clean, no dirt, dust or mould anywhere. The food is excellent quality. Mum has severe dementia and is deaf, so verbal communication
is difficult, I can tell by her body language and general demeanour that she is content in her surroundings, settled and happy. The only thing stopping me giving 5* for everything is the lack of an activities co- ordinator, but one has been appointed.

My sister has now been at the home for two and a half years. She is always cared for and looked after by all staff. It's nice to know that they all know her. Her changing needs are catered for and I'm always informed when decisions have to be made. Looking forward to meeting the new activities coordinator.
Reply from Charlotte Lownds, General Manager at Barchester Hilderstone HallThank you so much for the positive feedback. It is always a pleasure to provide support to your Sister, she always loves to participate in Activities within the home, sometimes supporting staff with their duties such as Reception and Hostess. I will cascade your kind words to the team, this is appreciated.

Dad has been here for 2 weeks and during that time has been well cared for. On the second day dad told me he was very impressed with how responsive the night staff were. I have never felt a problem to any of the staff. For example, we wheeled Dad around the garden, and a staff member cleaned the wheels
for us when we came back in. There is a lot of flexibility; we have shared a meal with Dad, which was great. He has been referred to OT, and we met the ANP.
Reply from Charlotte Lownds, General Manager at Barchester Hilderstone HallThank you so much for the positive feedback. We are pleased that your Dad has settled here at Hilderstone, and that he has been able to continue with his personal hobby which our staff are very interested in listening too. I will cascade your kind words to the team, this is appreciated.

Mother in law was treated so disrespectfully that she ended up in hospital very poorly.
Bone idle staff and understaffed quite a few times.
GDPR broken constantly at front desk.
When you complain its lock down and cover ups.
Lies told to cover themselves and to shut families up.
Her bedroom/ was
near left in such a disgusting state that I took my own cleaning products in and cleaned myself when I visited.
Please read the small print before signing as they love to overcharge.
Some kind staff, not many.
It's a wonderful first meeting show around with the ambience of the building, but the cracks start to show rather soon. That , they promise everything would be sorted out asap. They didn't.
Its hard to believe this is how they conduct themselves.
Clothes go missing and someone else are put in the place.
Security was hit and miss with vulnerable residents going for walk abouts without being noticed.
It was a nighmare getting MIL out, with the rules and regulation.
Please find elsewhere. X

My mother has been in the home for 4 weeks respite and she has been very happy. The home is run like a 5star hotel, the rooms are beautiful, everywhere is spotlessly clean, the choice, variety and quality of the food is excellent. Lastly but most importantly the staff are fabulous, they are all so professional
but so kind and helpful. There is so much available for the residents to join in with if they wish. A big bonus for mum was that she could have a bath for the first time in a long time which was such a treat for her( she has daily showers)! I'm not sure is mum wants to come out - we will see!

Very dissappointed in 'service' provided. On each visit guest sitting at exit in reception awaiting me and distressed. Each phone call told he was sitting in reception 'helping'. Very little to occupy male guests. Visited to local hostelry arranged for Fathers day - requested joining this on day admitted,
further 4 requests including deputy manager (who did assessment) no-one contacted me to arrange or deny! On day I visited to pack, guest left behind staff member suggested 'he might run off'. Who decided that? Shouldn't I be contacted. All garden furniture very dirty asked it be cleaned 6 days later still dirty - soil, bird droppings, cobwebs. Home locked Sunday unable to access until staff member arrived. No feedback from home on respite by phone or post. Very poor total lack of service!
Reply from Feedback Team, The Feedback Team at Barchester The Spires Care HomeThanks for taking the time to leave your review. We're sorry to read your loved one didn't enjoy their respite experience at The Spires. After speaking with the home, the General Manager has advised they were not aware of any concerns with your relative sitting in the reception area being raised during their stay with us. We've asked that the furniture conditions be looked into if you feel these weren't addressed, and communication improved after a resident has left our service as well. If there's anything else you would like to raise with our team directly, please do get in touch with us at feedback@barchester.com Kind regards, Barchester's Customer Feedback Team.

After a prolonged stay in hospital with little or no mental or physical interaction, my father was accepted as a permanent resident to Hilderstone Hall. Within weeks he became "Dad" again, laughing and integrating thanks to the care, compassion and respect he received from all of the staff.
I cannot
commend the staff highly enough, always attending to his needs infact he thought he was living in a "Hotel".
Sadly Dad passed away peacefully in Hilderstone Hall a few weeks ago. When I attended to see him for the last time, the care assistant knocked on the door to his room, called his name and announced that I was there. "RESPECT" even though he had passed away earlier.
I can 100% recommend Hilderstone Hall to anyones loved one in the future.
Reply from Melanie Fenton, General Manager at Barchester Hilderstone HallThank you for your kind words regarding the care that your Dad received at Hilderstone Hall. He was a special gentleman, who brightened your day when he was sitting in reception with his lovely smile, especially when he was asking for his suitcase and car keys. He will be greatly missed. Your Dad, other residents and staff always found your visits to be a pleasure, bringing a ray of sunshine to the home.
