Dad stayed for respite for 2 weeks. He had an infection and a fall. Over his 2 weeks he was treated kindly and respectfully in a lovely clean welcoming environment by attentive and understanding team. He ate better than he has for a while and by the end of his stay was fully mobile and raring to go again. He has been home for a week now and has felt well enough to walk to the pub daily again. Thank you so much to the whole team for making the experience so positive for my dad and myself. I suspect we will need you again in the future and I will not be worried about the process or his care. Thank you once again

Reply from Eva Recio Dominguez, General Manager at Barchester The Spires Care Home

From the day Dad arrived almost a year ago now, every member of staff (whether it is the carers, nursing staff, cleaners, laundry or management) have all treated him with dignity and respect.
The care workers are attentive, professional and passionate about their job - for which I am extremely grateful.
I am always welcomed with a smile and a wee chat from everyone when I visit, it really is a great place.
The rooms are all spacious and decorated lovely, Dad was able to bring his computer with him to be able to stay in touch with family and friends - fabulous.

It's a pleasure for me to visit him at Hilderstone.

My mother went to the Spires Lichfield early in 2026, initially for respite care. She settled in very quickly and we realised that she was happy there, so much so that we made the decision to make her a permanent resident. She has not looked back and neither have my sister and I. Mum is well cared for by all the staff who have been accommodating and compassionate from the moment she walked in the doors. The food is excellent and portions suit her needs. The atmosphere is always calm and peaceful and it is a joy to visit Mum and see her looking so well. We are very grateful to have found such an ideal place for my Mum to spend her days and are thankful for all who work tirelessly to make the residents so comfortable and cared for.

Review of Barchester Lawton Rise Care Home from Julie S (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Our mum moved into Lawton Rise on 30th September 2025 after her Alzheimer's progressed, as she needed to move from residential to nursing care. From the moment she arrived, we felt reassured that she was in the right place. The home is bright and welcoming, with light, comfortable rooms and a warm atmosphere. There were always plenty of activities to keep residents engaged, and the food was consistently excellent.
What truly made a difference, though, were the staff. Every member of the team showed genuine kindness, patience and compassion. They went above and beyond to support Mum and to keep us informed and involved. Their care gave us confidence that she was safe, respected and treated with dignity every day.

Mum passed away suddenly on 20th November, just eight weeks after moving in. Although, this was an incredibly difficult time, we are deeply grateful for the outstanding care she received during her final weeks.

Reply from Jennifer Dale, GM at Barchester Lawton Rise Care Home

Hi Julie, Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. It was a genuine pleasure to get to know all of you and to care for your lovely mother; I will make sure that I pass on your kind words to the team. We hope that yourself, Craig and the rest of the family are keeping well, Jennifer

The care at The Spires is exemplary. Very caring/loving staff for whom any request was no trouble. Food excellent portions/variety spot on.

Bathrooms need more grabrails on same wall as shower head. Shelf also would be useful to put shampoo/gel etc on. Separate towel rail outside of wet area would be better.

From the moment that Dad came into Lawton Rise, all of the staff have been excellent, empathy, understanding, care & compassion, I really can find no fault, every member of the team we came into contact with was just lovely.
Dad's passing was treated with the utmost dignity & that helped us to deal with it too.

Review of Barchester Hilderstone Hall from T A (Daughter of Resident) published on 11 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My Mum has been living at Hilderstone Hall for over two years, during the times I have visted her, I have noticed how patient and caring all the staff are, the building is very clean, no dirt, dust or mould anywhere. The food is excellent quality. Mum has severe dementia and is deaf, so verbal communication is difficult, I can tell by her body language and general demeanour that she is content in her surroundings, settled and happy. The only thing stopping me giving 5* for everything is the lack of an activities co- ordinator, but one has been appointed.

My sister has now been at the home for two and a half years. She is always cared for and looked after by all staff. It's nice to know that they all know her. Dad has been here for 2 weeks and during that time has been well cared for. On the second day dad told me he was very impressed with how responsive the night staff were. I have never felt a problem to any of the staff. For example, we wheeled Dad around the garden, and a staff member cleaned the wheels for us when we came back in. There is a lot of flexibility; we have shared a meal with Dad, which was great. He has been referred to OT, and we met the ANP.

Review of Barchester Hilderstone Hall from K M (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 28 January 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Mother in law was treated so disrespectfully that she ended up in hospital very poorly.
Bone idle staff and understaffed quite a few times.
GDPR broken constantly at front desk.
When you complain its lock down and cover ups.
Lies told to cover themselves and to shut families up.
Her bedroom/ was near left in such a disgusting state that I took my own cleaning products in and cleaned myself when I visited.
Please read the small print before signing as they love to overcharge.
Some kind staff, not many.
It's a wonderful first meeting show around with the ambience of the building, but the cracks start to show rather soon. That , they promise everything would be sorted out asap. They didn't.
Its hard to believe this is how they conduct themselves.
Clothes go missing and someone else are put in the place.
Security was hit and miss with vulnerable residents going for walk abouts without being noticed.
It was a nighmare getting MIL out, with the rules and regulation.

Please find elsewhere. X

My mother has been in the home for 4 weeks respite and she has been very happy. The home is run like a 5star hotel, the rooms are beautiful, everywhere is spotlessly clean, the choice, variety and quality of the food is excellent. Lastly but most importantly the staff are fabulous, they are all so professional but so kind and helpful. There is so much available for the residents to join in with if they wish. A big bonus for mum was that she could have a bath for the first time in a long time which was such a treat for her( she has daily showers)! I'm not sure is mum wants to come out - we will see!
