My aunt is currently in The Manor for respite care following a fall. All aspects of her care have been excellent. The home is clean, spacious, & welcoming. All the staff are kind and helpful. Special mention to Ramis the physio who has helped aunt become mobile and confident again.
Reply from Katrina Ball, General Manager at Barchester Manor Care HomeThank you for the feedback and time taken to leave a review, it is a pleasure to care for your Aunt.

Mum, having lived independently for 8 years being moved from London had an episode which lead to a 3 week stay in hospital. On discharge it was decided, by the family, that she was incapable of returning to her home and living independently. After looked at a couple of care homes it was decided partly
due to there being vacancies that Mum would initially go into the Manor Care Home. Since moving in Mum has begun settling in and although "its not home" she has gradually integrated into both the surroundings and with the other residence. Mum enjoys the activities and is quite happy with food and the care she receives. Overall we are very happy with the care she receives.
Reply from Katrina Ball, General Manager at Barchester Manor Care HomeThank you very much for taking time to leave a review for us. It means a great deal to have your feedback and I will ensure this is shared with our team.

As a short term respite care option Crandon Springs worked out brilliantly for us. My mum settled swiftly and was well cared throughout. When she inevitablly needs to move into care more permanently, Cradon will be our only consideration.

We are so pleased to hear that your mum settled in quickly and that her respite stay at Crandon Springs was such a positive experience. I cannot thank ALL the staff at Crandon Springs enough for their professionalism, care, support and kindness helping my mum through one of her most difficult years - it has been such a relief to know that she is so well cared for as I am some distance away. Mum has been very happy at CS and although
she misses her independence she could not have managed without this fabulous care home.

The care my mother received at The Manor was exemplary. The staff were very helpful and took great care with all residents. The food was delicious and varied and the gardens were a real suntrap.
Overall Mum couldn't have been better looked after and we are so thankful to them.

I have been visiting The Manor with my Pat (therapy) dog and always received a wonderful welcome from the staff. It is a very friendly, happy place with lovely, caring carers. The food looks and smells very appetising, but I can't rate it as I leave before lunch! The residents are mostly full of praise
for the treatment they receive.

Mum went into Barchester Crandon Springs for a weeks respite whilst I went away for my birthday. She was very apprehensive as she had never stayed away on her own. The staff rang several times to ensure her needs would be met which gave me reassurance! Mum enjoyed chatting to some residents and staff
were all very nice. Because she needed help as her mobility has declined she said it was 'waiting' she found frustrating and she prefers her own bed. Food could be hotter.
Reply from Ruth Cooke, Home Admissions Advisor at Barchester Crandon Springs Care HomeThank you for sharing your experience of respite care at Crandon Springs. We're pleased to hear that our team helped reassure both you and your mum ahead of her stay, and that she enjoyed the company of residents and staff. Your feedback is really important to us, so we will share this with the team to acknowledge their good work and ensure every aspect of our service meets expectations. We hope to welcome your mum again in the future, should you require the support and reassurance that residential care provides.

Mum went into Crandon Springs in wells for Respite Care after staying with me following a Hip break 5 months ago. I was so worried about her holiday here but shouldn't have been! All the staff were amazing, her room was lovely, the food was enjoyed (though not plentiful) and the Activities very much
enjoyed. The only thing that could be improved is daily cleaning of bathroom and bedroom, she will be back!
Reply from Ruth Cooke, Home Admissions Advisor at Barchester Crandon Springs Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review and for trusting us with our mum's respite care following her hip break. We're delighted that she enjoyed her stay with us, from her room and the activities to the support from our team. It means a great deal to us that you felt reassured and that your mum is looking forward to returning. We also really appreciate your constructive feedback and will share your comments with our housekeeping and catering teams as we continually look for ways to further improve our resident's experience.

I have been fortunate to reside at West Abbey Care Home for 6 1/2 weeks, while recuperating after a hip operation. Throughout that time I have been continuously impressed by the professionalism, care, patience and kindness demonstrated every day. All staff, whatever their role, have ensured that every
aspect of service was delivered to the highest standard - and always with a smile. The meals have all been imaginative and prepared to the highest standard.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this very special care home
Reply from Amanda Oxley, Operations Manager at Barchester West Abbey Care HomeThank you we all really enjoyed your company, and it was great to see you make a great recovery following your surgery.

I wanted to express my family's sincere thanks and gratitude for the care, compassion and kindness all the staff at The Manor gave especially to my mother, but also to us.
Mum arrived with you 10 months ago and we did not think she would be with you very long, she was so poorly. However, with the care,
both medically, but also practically, she recovered and indeed thrived enough to regain some of her independence - and certainly her spark! That was down to a very dedicated and special team, from the cleaners, laundry staff, carers, entertainment staff and to yourself.
In particular I would like to express my deep appreciation for everything that was done for Mum in the last days and hours. The Nursing staff and every one of the carers made myself, my family who visited, and most importantly, my mother feel supported and helped so that she had a peaceful death.
You are all trained and experienced in dealing with this, but we were made to feel a very personal sense of care and concern.
Reply from Aime Bown, General Manager at Barchester Manor Care HomeThank you for your kind and heartfelt words. Your appreciation of the whole team means a great deal to everyone. Supporting both residents and their families at such an important time is something we hold very close to our hearts. It was a privilege to care for your mother. She will be fondly remembered by our team.

I had to do an emergency admission for my mother has advanced dementia, due to my father becoming suddenly ill. The lead administrator took charge of the situation with great professionalism and kindness, which helped defuse what wa an extremely stressful and emotional situation. The lead administrator
along with the care home manager were able to take my mother in as a permanent resident within 48 hours, where she has remained ever since. For this I cannot thank them enough.
Reply from Amanda Oxley, Operations Manager at Barchester West Abbey Care HomeThank you so much for your kind review, we pride ourselves on being able to react quickly to help, and we were very happy that we could help.

My wife and I could not be more pleased with the care that John (Father/Father-in-Law) received at this lovely Care Home. Before he died, peacefully, he told us several time how dedicated and kind all the staff were. He said, repeatedly to us and the staff that "I don't want to be here." The staff were
very concerned that he said this until we explained that he didn't want to be 'here' meaning 'alive' as he was so very tired and missed his wife of over 70 years. The staff were as caring to my wife and I and our two grown up children as they were to John. Nothing was too much trouble and they always had time to talk. His nurse in particular was excellent. Indeed all the staff were extremely professional but with a very human and empathetic manner. John had had a good life by his own reckoning and was ready to move on. He was only there for 6 days but they were special days for him and for us.
Even after John had died and we had collected his belongings flowers arrived for my wife
Reply from Aime Bown, General Manager at Barchester Manor Care HomeThank you for the time taken to leave us a review, Anthony. It was a delight to care for John and thank you for the appreciation to the team, I will make sure that this is shared with them.

My Mother lived at West Abbey Care Centre for her last 33 months of life. Throughout this time the staff, entertainments, food, physical & mental care, facilitation & access to NHS care; have been consistently excellent. No request was too much effort, and staff have always gone out of their way to
give an outstanding service. The Centre is well run, and efficient. Crucially, staff morale is high: evidenced by their cheery and helpful approach at all times; and always being prepared to "go the extra mile" for the benefit of the resident or relative. The "end of life" care was sympathetic, appropriate, and totally attentive both as she died and afterwards, for my mother and to myself. Overall, I strongly recommend West Abbey for its excellent service and professionalism.
Reply from Amanda Oxley, Operations Manager at Barchester West Abbey Care HomeThank you so much for your review, your words mean so much to all the staff that cared for your Mother.

Too long responding to a toilet call for patients such as my wife. Her lack of mobility means that the response is often too long and the result is she often wets or soils herself.
In most other respects the staff are excellent, very caring and friendly.
Reply from Graham Allen, Senior General Manager at Barchester Manor Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. This is not the level of care or response time we would normally expect, and we can only apologise for this. We have addressed this with the team to ensure assistance is provided more promptly going forward.
Your kind words about our caring and friendly staff are very much appreciated, and your lovely handwritten card and boxes of chocolates meant a great deal to everyone here - thank you for your thoughtfulness.
