Mum was with you for the shortest of times, however, during her brief stay in Crandon Spings she could not have been made to feel more welcome or comfortable. A huge thank you to all the staff involved in her care.

My father has stayed at Crandon Springs several times for respite support. All staff have always remembered him and give him a warm and generous welcome, ensuring he is included in a variety of stimulating activities. His medical needs vary, and care is given to ensure they are met. Though he reluctant
to leave his house, he is happy to stay at Crandon Springs and we feel secure when he is there. (A big thank you to all staff).
He is also welcomed between stays to attend activities as a 'day-visitor', which he finds very stimulating.

Reply from Ruth Cooke, Home Admissions Advisor at Barchester Crandon Springs Care Home

We are delighted that your father has had such positive experiences during his respite stays with us. We want all of our residents to feel at home and well-cared for, whether they live with us permanently or for a short while, so and it's gratifying to hear that your father feels happy, secure and involved, and that our staff have made a lasting impression on both you and your father. We are really pleased that he feels so comfortable here and we love having him back to join our activities between stays. Your kind words will be shared with the entire team; thank you.

I am absolutely delighted to have my friend in the care of Crandon Springs Care Home. She seems to be having a great time with the numerous musical afternoons, singing and dancing and generally mixing well with other Residents. The Activities team do a fantastic job integrating the Residents so that
they mix well and are kept busy whilst still having one-to-one sessions to make them feel individual. Also, the day trips out to Garden Centres and country walks take advantage of the lovely Somerset countryside as well as trips into Wells itself. When I visit, everyone makes me feel so welcome and cannot do enough to support us. It is just like an extended family. Thank you for all you do.

Reply from Ruth Cooke, Home Admissions Advisor at Barchester Crandon Springs Care Home

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience with us. We're delighted to hear that your friend is enjoying her time with us. Our activities team is dedicated to creating engaging and inclusive experiences to enrich the lives of all our residents, so it's wonderful to know that these efforts have made a positive impact. We also appreciate your kind words about our staff. Ensuring that both residents and their visitors feel welcomed and supported is hugely important to us. Your description of Crandon Springs as "just like an extended family" is truly appreciated; thank you.

Barchester Crandon Springs Care Home

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My in-laws have been at Crandon Springs since Dec 2024 initially as respite but are now permanent residents.
They have been treated with dignity and kindness by everyone as have we during a very traumatic time.
The home itself feels more like a hotel than a care home, there are no chairs in circles,
peeling paint or offensive odours as we saw on visit to other homes.
Most importantly we know that they are they are safe, warm, fed and cared for. They are treated by the staff as you would hope they'd look after their own family. If there are any concerns they are addressed promptly and we are kept up to date.
Dogs are welcome which means we can bring our dog in for visits and there are always biscuits awaiting her in reception as well as plenty of fuss and cuddles from the staff.
We just wish they would join in with more of the activities! Dad moans that there aren't any activities for the men and there aren't many men in the home to talk to.
More staff would be good for all.

Reply from Ruth Cooke, Home Admissions Advisor at Barchester Crandon Springs Care Home

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely, positive comments about our care home and our staff. Your parents are indeed part of the Crandon Springs family, which does include several men, and we're delighted that you can see how well cared for and safe they are with us. We will continue to encourage your parents join in with our varied activities programme and to seek suggestions for new activities they might wish to add. We look forward to seeing you and your dogs the next time you visit!

My mother in law is a resident in Crandon Springs and has been there for 9 months.
In that time we have seen a considerable improvement from when she first arrived.
She is now joining in with singing activities and smiling and laughing. As well as putting on weight with all the fabulous food.
All
the staff are so lovely and caring, we are so lucky.

My husband has been a resident at West Abbey for twelve months now. He settled in better than we could ever have hoped, and that is largely due to the wonderful care he is receiving. I know that if there were any problems the home would contact me straight away, although this hasn't been necessary as
my husband is so happy and content. I cannot fault the care at West Abbey and the friendly, compassionate atmosphere; you are always greeted with a big smile from all the staff. The care home is immaculately clean and all the residents look well cared for. There is also a wide range of activities laid on for the residents, and the food looks delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home, and we are grateful for the dedication and hard work of all the staff.

We are delighted to have found such an amazing care home for our mother. From the moment she arrived nearly 18 months ago she has always been treated with endless kindness and respect by all the staff, regardless of role or seniority. The care home itself provides everything she needs from a light airy
home looking onto a beautiful internal garden, with plenty of activities that she is encouraged to participate in with much enthusiasm from the staff. The staff themselves are amazing, often going out of their way to cheer her along when she is struggling with her alzheimers. I am very happy we have found West Abbey Care Home and would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of our mum.

I visited many Nursing Homes but West Abbey stood out. Mum has settled in well, thanks to all the wonderful staff. It has not been an easy journey for Mum as she suffers from advancing Alzheimer's.
The Home is clean and well maintained both inside, and in the grounds, outside. The gardens are lovely
to wander around in.
Staff on the Lyde Unit are brilliant where there is such a lovely atmosphere. There is plenty of space to wander around. You feel part of a bigger family.
Staff are polite and very welcoming and quick to resolve any problems or concerns. We love the café area where we can escape the world and have a coffee and one of the slices of the chef's cake of the day!!
There are daily activities which include day trips, games, knit and natter, communion and of course, scrabble!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend West Abbey. All staff both medical and non-medical are amazing. Thank you so much. It means the world to me to know that Mum is safe, well cared for and loved.

After a very serious stroke 2 and a half years ago, my husband was diagnosed as needing 24 hour nursing care. The managers at the Manor Gate Care Home, Bishops Hall were extremely kind and helpful when my daughter and I visited her to ask for a room for him. He lived there until January this year when
he sadly passed away. While there he considered it as his home. His room was spacious, all of the staff there were very kind, friendly and helpful to all the residents and cheerful. They were most considerate to myself and our two daughters. He loved the meals, as did we all, and thought everything tasted homemade. The Manor was always warm and cozy. All the staff were extremely cheerful, friendly and helpful. He was always clean and tidy. We would recommend this home to anyone, and often do.
