Barchester Lancaster Grange Care Home

from George S (Husband of Resident) published on 2 May 2025

As before, my wife has been a resident of Lancaster Grange Care Home. After treatment has been consistently of the highest standard. The staff all seem to be caring and act in a consistant way, recording every face to face encounter with my wife and recording their experience on digital handsets. The
room is always tidy and the beds and linens clean. I am kept really informed of my wife's condition, by face to face encounter on telephone by both senior dementia staff and doctors. The whole experience from entering the home to leaving leaves me totally satisfied that my wife is in the best possible place.

As always we remain constantly grateful for all your support. You are as much a part of our lovely home as your wonderful wife.

My mother stayed at Edingley Lodge for 6 weeks following a fall in which she broke her wrist. From first contact to discharge, the experience was a pleasure and stress free for both myself and my mother.
All the staff are helpful and nothing is too much trouble. My mother was particularly impressed
with the carers, so patient and understanding. We would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

I had extremely good help and care today today, 15th March, above and beyond, from 2 staff members in particular dealing with me in what was a unusual situation for me, they were kind and professional in what could have been stressful for me. I have thanked them personally but wished to pass on my experience.

My aunt was in Lancaster Grange for only 4 weeks before she sadly passed away. I cannot praise all the staff enough for their care of my aunt. They were all very helpful & couldn't do enough for her to keep her comfortable during her short stay.
We were kept informed all the time as to what was happening.
I would not hesitate to recommend Lancaster Grange to anyone

Everyone is very friendly and helpful from the receptionist, office staff, carers and all helpers in the house. It is bright, very clean and a very welcoming place to visit. It in like visiting my sister's own home. The activities are relative and enjoyable and my sister loves them and takes part often.
I am frequently offered a tea or coffee and there is a very happy atmosphere.

Barchester Forest Care Home

from V T (Sister of Resident) published on 10 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My sister has been a resident since April 2023 the staff all appear to be really caring and show their love for the residents which is so important to me. As a black resident staff have taken the time to learn how to look after her hair by cornrowing it instead of cutting her hair. Care homes need to
be able to cater for the culture of the resident. My sister would not cut her own hair, she likes it plaited, so this is good. Very happy with the activity co-ordinator. Being sat in their room doing nothing with only their thoughts is not good, they need their minds stimulated. Each resident have different personalities and person centred care is important and should be encouraged not only on paper. My sister loves to sing and this is being encouraged by the co-ordinator by taking her out to church to worship and do something she enjoys. I am looking forward to seeing more involvement outside of the care home and the activities planned catered for each individual need.
Thank you.

Mum continues to receive all the care and support she needs and her daily hygiene routine has improved. The staff team are friendly, knowledgeable, caring and approachable. Any concerns or issues are generally resolved satisfactorily and in a timely manner. Occasionally incidents arising have been reported
to me a few days after the event rather than on the day. Mum does require a soft food diet and to be supervised during meal times, also requires encouragement to eat and drink adequately. Although mum now prefers to stay in her room, the new activity coordinator is very proactive and has organised lots of activities, events and outings for the residents since being in post.

I can't speak highly enough of my stay at Edingley Lodge. Every single member of staff has been kind, caring, and very helpful. The place itself is beautiful, everywhere is spotlessly clean, and the meals are always very nice too. For anyone thinking of using Edingley Lodge, I can assure them they would
be making a very wise choice.

Moving Mum to residential care was a huge decision. Lancaster Grange stood out immediately in terms of attitude, ease of planning and listening to our needs. Mum, in spite of her devastation admitting she could no longer cope on her own and leaving her beloved home, has settled in beautifully. After
10 months, she feels Lancaster Grange is her home. The staff feel like family. There is a wonderful sense of community. As her family, I feel as much a part of Lancaster Grange as the residents and staff alike. Obviously, I'd like Mum to be living independently but Lancaster Grange comes a very close second.

Such a lovely review and we are extremely grateful. Your mother is a huge part of our lives here and now an even bigger part of mine as she's just two doors down. We all love her positivity and I can't wait to see her spending time in her garden area in the spring. Absolutely all the best.

From the enquiry about my dad, to when he left after 2 weeks of respite, the care home staff were outstanding.
Always welcomed with a smile and the offer of fresh coffee and pastries.
All the staff were helpful with my dad and couldn't do enough for him.
It was like a 5 star holiday for him.
Thank
you to the care home manager for all your advice and always there to have a chat.
I cannot thank you all enough for all the care you gave my dad while there, you are all stars.

Mum has been at Barchester Hall Park Care Home for twenty months. She has advanced dementia and lives on Memory Lane. The staff are wonderful with her and there are always lots of activities happening to keep her entertained. She is very happy there.
The staff also look out for my dad, who has milder
dementia, when he visits Mum. The way they are both treated gives me peace of mind that I made the right choice.
The home has recently undergone a major refurbishment and looks fantastic. I would certainly recommend Hall Park for anyone looking for a home for their loved ones.

My mother-in-law, who has Alzheimer's, has been a resident for two years now and we are extremely happy with the care offered. The staff are very professional and will work with you if you have any ideas to help the residents live a comfortable safe life. The nursing home doesn't smell of that usual
nursing home smell that normally blows your head off like you would see in different establishments in the Worksop area. We took time looking around different nursing homes but instantly fell in love with Barchester Forest Hill Care Home! We based our decisions on would we live here if we had to and it was a massive yes. We can definitely relax at home knowing our family member is safe and well cared for.
