Review of Barchester Hall Park Care Home from Tom S (Son of Resident) published on 4 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Hall Park Care Home provided one week's respite care for my mum, enabling my dad to have a much needed break from his role of primary carer.

We were a little anxious - my mum has always been resistant to the idea of needing any care. Thankfully the staff were so respectful, warm and accommodating that she settled in quickly and easily. Thank you Hall Park, we will definitely come back again for more respite care very soon.

Reply from Jodie Rakhra, General Manager at Barchester Hall Park Care Home

Thank you for your kind words. It really does mean a lot to receive such positive feedback.

I will be sure to share your comments with the team, who will be delighted to hear how much their care and support was appreciated. I am so pleased that your dad was able to enjoy some well-deserved...

Overall Experience

Mam (Winifred) moved in to Forest Hill from Westwood area 3 weeks ago, as her needs could no longer be met. Visited for the first time on 3rd July. My immediate impression were "this is a loving caring place." The staff I met were warm, accommodating and all knew my mam so well in a short space of time, The cleaning staff, must work very hard too. There is not the usual 'smell' we've experienced at other homes. A great effort and well done to all the Forest Hill team. :)

My mum has lived in Lancaster Grange for 18 months. The care at the home is superb- the carers all care for the residents with such care and attention. The food is amazing, and l can personally say is to suit the conditions of the residents.
The activities are outstanding and everyday there is something different to ensure that the residents are physically and mentally stimulated. The activities are themed throughout the year.

I would strongly recommend the home for any family members.

Review of Barchester Lancaster Grange Care Home from Caroline A (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 10 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Both parents-in-law joined the home early 2025 and the care delivered to my father-in-law up until his death was excellent and catered to his individual nursing needs well.

My mother-in-law is living a beautiful life with up to 4 daily activities including trips out, singing, art, talks, music, visits from animals and children. The list of activities is absolutely endless and the activity leaders are so encouraging and caring. At home her dementia meant a cycle of little to entertain and engage her but at Lancaster Grange she is truly living a new and enlivened life. She enjoys the dining experience, has made many friends and her well-being has improved a thousand fold.

Review of Barchester Forest Hill Care Home from J B (Wife of Resident) published on 2 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My husband was in Forest hill only for a few months at the end oflast year 2025. I had looked at several nursing homes and felt deflated and underwhelmed. Forest hill was the last place that I visited and I was blown away by the difference, the time spent showing me around on my visit all of my questions were answered honestly and accurately. My husband had advanced dementia and his needs were complex. I felt that certain members of staff had an excellent understanding of my husband's needs and within a relatively short space of time he settled, changes in medication and the way he was treated improved him immensely. I visited every day and spent hours with him and found most of the staff to be very professional but also friendly I can honestly say they became like our second family and I cannot thank them enough for making my husband's last months as comfortable and pleasant as possible and for the I was supported from day 1. THANK YOU

Review of Barchester Lancaster Grange Care Home from Mark A (Son of Resident) published on 25 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My family has had an association with Lancaster Grange for 18 months, and I cannot speak highly enough of the care and support provided.
Most recently, my mother has been living in the dementia community, and it has been reassuring to see how kind, patient and attentive the staff are with her every day. The team genuinely care about the residents as individuals and work hard to create a warm, safe and engaging environment.
Before my father's passing, he received excellent nursing care at Lancaster Grange. During what was a very difficult time for our family, the staff showed immense professionalism, compassion and dignity, ensuring he was comfortable and well cared for. We will always be grateful for the support they provided to both him and our family.

One of the things that particularly stands out is the wide range of activities on offer. There is always something happening, whether it's entertainment, crafts, social events or opportunities for residents to stay active and involved.

Review of Barchester Edingley Lodge Care Home from N D (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Edingley Lodge feels like a happy family home. The staff are so welcoming and care for my Mum with dignity and joy. She was recently widowed and wanted to try 2 weeks of respite. It was clear after a week that she was thriving and wanted to stay permanently. She feels safer at the Lodge than in her own home and she's certainly pampered. It's been such a dream come true to watch her blossom and to see her smile come back.

The food is excellent, the activities diverse and interesting, the other residents are welcoming, and the care second to none. The only problem is finding the right time to visit her because she doesn't want to miss a thing!

Edingley Lodge is a beautiful home in a lovely location. From the beginning, my mum has been treated with exceptional warmth and dignity by the lovely staff. Communication with her family, when necessary, is prompt, and the safety and security of residents is evident.
The food is excellent, and the dining area is beautifully set out.

We feel that mum is seen as an individual, and that is important to her and her family.

The care that mum recieves is superb, however, there are times when no carers are available (waited 70 minutes) and Mum has had to urinate in her bed. Also, time critical medication has been administered up to 80 minutes late, on at least two occasions this month.

Dad came from hospital and Hall Park on Friday 20/3/26 for palliative care. He died peacefully 1 week later on 27/3/26. The care was phenomenal - kind, generous, above and beyond. Helping us siblings (David's offspring) through the process. Nothing appeared too difficult and all of our needs were thought of and met. I have already started recommending you. Thank you.

Reply from Jodie Rakhra, General Manager at Barchester Hall Park Care Home

Our team will be very touched to hear that their kindness, attentiveness, and compassion made a difference to both your dad and your family. Supporting you and your siblings through such a significant and emotional time is something we take to heart, and it means a great deal to know that you felt cared for and thought of throughout.

The culture at the home is excellent. Amongst the staff and between staff and residents and staff and residents families. Our dad was at Hall Park for a very short time (1 week) and we have been surprised at the connection made in this time with staff. They have all individually been kind, generous with their time. Compassionate and very sensitive in there care of our dad. Showed constant dignity and maintained their professional conduct throughout.

Review of Barchester Hall Park Care Home from A H (Daughter of Resident) published on 17 March 2026 Submitted via Website

I have to say this care home is the best I have come across. My mother has dementia and has been here since December 2025. She had been in 3 previous care homes which were not good at all. We looked round lots of homes had to make appointments for viewing, but with Hall Park we turned up at 5pm on a Sunday and they had no problem with it at all. They showed us round and answered all our questions. It was not rushed at all. They even showed us the laundry and kitchen. I knew immediately mum needed to be there. Since she moved in they have been fantastic. The carers are really hot on spotting when something is not right with mums health and wellbeing. I'm so grateful to them for looking after mum so well. Thank you so much.

I'm confident my mum is being well cared for. The staff are friendly and approachable and treat my mum with kindness. The meals are excellent and when I've been there at lunchtime always look and smell delicious. The rooms are clean and tidy whenever I have visited and my mum is always presentable. If there is one thing I would improve on its perhaps updating the room carpet and decor to freshen it up a little. But all in all I'm happy with the care my mum recieves.
