Review of Barchester The Fernes from H D (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

We have absolutely no concerns around the home, carers, environment etc - everyone is wonderful but... the garden is looking very tatty, overgrown and unloved. I know you now have a gardener but she cannot keep on top of it on so few hours. When we viewed the home, the garden was lovely - its really deteriorated. The residents pay a huge amount of money and the garden is so important to them - it is their outside world and they deserve better.

Reply from Alina Danetiu, General Manager at Barchester The Fernes

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you have been so happy with the care, team and environment at The Fernes Care Home. We are, however, sorry to hear your concerns about the garden. We completely understand how important our outdoor space is to...

Review of Barchester Florence Court Care Home from T B (Son of Resident) published on 24 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My Father was placed at Florence Court very short notice over the Christmas period in 2025 for a while.
The home were outstanding in their approach to arranging this and even more so over the Christmas period.
Sammi was instrumental in helping and arranging everything even in her own time to help.
The process would have been terrible if wasn't for Sammy had her colleagues who helped.
From the first phone call the process was straight forward and easy to follow, and the care providers by the care staff, the admin staff and the manager was above and beyond what was expected and even considered checking myself in on a few occasions.
Clean, peaceful, friendly, and welcoming at all times.

Strongly recommend and special reference to Sammy.

Review of Barchester Rothsay Grange Care Home from A G (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
We are very impressed with the care given by the staff.
The food varies in quality, suppers - sandwiches are not good. When I requested toast + butter the other day the butter tasted like margarine.

There are not enough carers and it would be good to have some consistency to help build trust and familiarity. No cleaners at the weekend does not seem adequate. Cleaning has improved this week.

Reply from Jane Edwards, General Manager at Barchester Rothsay Grange Care Home
Thank you for your comments surrounding the care given by staff.
I am disappointed to hear that you find quality varies in the food provided and we will follow up your comments with our Chefs.

Review of Barchester Florence Court Care Home from R T (Son of Resident) published on 21 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My father, brother and me want to say how much we appreciate the kindness, care and support of all the wonderful staff at Florence Court. This is an amazing place and we recommend it unreservedly. My father was admitted last week and has settled in very quickly. Florence court looks beautiful; more like a 5 star hotel than a care home. As my brother has commented; it's like a luxury cruise ship on land! Light, airy, immaculately clean and extremely comfortable. Food is excellent and nutritious and friends and relatives are encouraged to join residents for meals. There is a private dinning room where residents can host meals. It has a lovely garden and 2 breathtaking rooftop terraces. Plenty of lounge areas to enjoy as well as an indoor cinema, activity suite and a wellness room and also a salon / hairdresser suite.

Quite apart from all this; the magic of Florence Court is the staff. Right from Sarah the general manager downwards, everyone has been absolutely brilliant.

I can't thank Abbie and the staff at this care home enough for everything they have done for me. During a very difficult time, they went above and beyond, offering not only excellent care to mum but also genuine kindness, compassion, and support.
Every member of staff truly cares about the residents and their families, and nothing is ever too much trouble. It is so reassuring to know that mum is in such caring hands and is happy here.

I would highly recommend this care home. A huge thank you to all the staff.

Review of Barchester Rothsay Grange Care Home from Wayne L (Son of Resident) published on 16 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I placed an urgent request on line in March 26 for a care home who had two places available for my elderly parents of 99 and 93. Within 10 minutes of the request, I received a call from Rothsay Grange. The team there were very understanding of the urgent request and arranged for me to visit them that afternoon. After the manager showed me around the home, they pulled out all the stops and my parents were moved into the home within 48 hours. All the staff across the home have been very accommodating and friendly, as a results my parents are now well cared for and settled. The home also pulled out all the stops for my fathers 100th birthday where

all of his family from across the UK, had a very enjoyable and rewarding day. Thanks to the care home staff who decorated one of the lounges for my fathers birthday and provided a well appreciated lunch, drinks and a wonderful birthday cake. This was finished off with singing and dancing in the afternoon.

Review of Barchester Rothsay Grange Care Home from Lindsay T (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum became a resident of Rothsay Grange in Jan 2026 after a lengthy hospital stay. She was understandably anxious, but by day two it was as though she'd always lived there. She settled in quickly, made friends almost immediately, and the staff have been so kind, caring and supportive. Mum often tells us how much she loves living here, and we have peace of mind knowing she is safe, happy and well looked after. The home itself is beautiful. From the moment you walk into reception, it feels more like a five-star hotel than a care home. The lounge is a lovely place to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake with Mum, and she especially enjoys the hair salon onsite. Her room is modern, spacious and beautifully furnished, with plenty of storage. The dining room is impressive, and the food is exceptional. On her birthday, the staff sang Happy Birthday and surprised her with a cream cake, making Mum feel truly special. We honestly couldn't ask for a better place for Mum to call home.

A very enjoyable stay for my 2 week respite. I needed a peaceful surrounding when I came out of my hospital operation and Shawford Springs certainly delivered that. I've enjoyed joining in the activities and my visitors were made very welcome. The only thing that I think should be addressed is that when the weather is extremely hot a fan should be placed in the room.

Review of Barchester Bere Grove from M H (Respite Resident) published on 25 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Following a severe fall & painful hip operation I went to Bere Grove for Respite I had excellent care, kindness & understanding from all the staff at Bere Grove.

It is a beautiful place to stay calm & quiet, comfortable rooms, gardens that are safe, in beautiful surroundings. Healthy delicious meals, particularly the meat dishes and deserts, but need more variety in menu. Home made cake & cookies everyday. Interesting activities but need a library downstairs also music to play in lounges. My medication needed extra attention from senior carers always there to assist me.

My husband recently spent a few weeks staying at Wimborne his first time living away from home. The atmosphere was warm and caring. The staff were helpful - they respected his need for solitude at times/not always wanting to be drawn into some activities on offer.

He enjoyed the food and the morning walks as well as being allowed, at times, to chat with folks in the entrance area! As a family we were well supported and kept informed regularly. A good experience. Thank you.
