always made sure mum had a lovely relaxing bath which she thoroughly enjoyed in the spa room. The young girl Bella who served mums meals was very friendly and polite. Thank you to all the staff for overall a lovely stay.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
It was a very useful respite stay having been in hospital for 5 weeks having had abdominal surgery and complications (prior to home). Overall experience was veery good, thank you. The staff were all pleasant although I was self-caring and not in need of day-to-day care. The main downfall was the nutrition
and food. The menu was mediocre sometimes with no protein or minimal protein present. The kitchen is upstairs from the main dining area and hot portable ovens are used, however, the food was sometines lukewarm. The serving staff were very pleasant and good at their job. The environment was kept very clean & tiday as well as being very pleasant for residents. Thank you for allowing me an honest review - the only reason to do so is to make quality improvements.
Reply from Feedback Team, The Feedback Team at Barchester Snowdrop Place Care HomeThanks for taking the time to leave your review, and your kind words about our staff at Snowdrop Place. My mum, Jo, has been a resident at the Wimborne Care Home for some 18 months and I cannot praise the staff, managers, all the carers and even Gary who does the maintenance for looking after my mum they way they do. Mum has also made many new friends and its lovely to see that interaction and how they

June was in as a Respite, initially 14 days there, as not ready for leaving, another 14 days. Due to the care, and help from NHS OT and Physio, and private physio, she's recovered mobility well and now coming home. Initially, despite excellent care from the home, was a little unsettled but has adjusted
to care home life.

We were involved with The Ferns for 3 years as a very good friend of ours was being cared for there by your excellent team.
So, when my 90 year old brother was in need of more care, The Ferns was the obvious place for him to come too.
We would never have any hesitation in recommending The Ferns to
anyone looking for a care home
The whole building has been so thoughtfully designed in every way and has such a homely feel.
The staff are always so kind and friendly and visitors are always made to feel welcome at any time of the day. 10/10 all round

I had felt guilty about locating respite care for my wife, who suffers from vascular dementia. After much soul searching, I made an enquiry online. The wonderful team at Marnel called me the following day, and arranged for me to visit that day. The lovely Lesley showed me around, explained everything
clearly and totally understood my guilt yet dire need for a break. Two weeks later, my wife is back home. The staff were terrific, all of them. If I need a break in the future, I will be contacting Marnel again, and my wife has already said that she no longer fears the idea. Highly recommended.

Our diamond wedding anniversary celebration at Cherry Blossom Manor.
My husband has dementia and is being looked after by the wonderful caring staff at Cherry Blossom Manor. Last week we celebrated our diamond wedding and Gigi and the staff went out of their way to make this an unforgettable occasion
for us and thirteen of our family. Angel and the kitchen staff cooked us a delicious meal of roast beef with vegetables and all the accompaniments followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. The entertainment staff decorated the room with poster and hearts which they cut out and balloons. I am so glad that my husband is living in this wonderful home.
Reply from Gigi Despojo, GM at Barchester Cherry Blossom ManorHi Carole
We are glad that we were part of your Diamond wedding anniversary. We will always find time to this great milestone of your marriage. We are happy also that this is appreciated and commended. You have been generous to us. I will share this to Team Cherry and wish you well.

Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
A fortune has been spent on the gardens and decor of the rooms - But, my 1st night I woke up to a man tugging my duvet I said go away get off and tugged at the cover.
As it was the 1st night after my heart operation I could not continue holding the duvet over my body. He was on his own NO WOMAN with
him, VERY FRIGHTENING - "I must take a photo of you", he said - pulling back the cover to reveal my groin (where the line went into my artery).
When I complained next day I was told I had imagined it as I was still under effects from the anesthetic I told her I did NOT have an anesthetic at that she walked away.
I am pleased to say that the day after that the medical orders
Sorry, but had to take a photo of my groin (which had a plaster on) as he should have done it when I was admitted not at 3.30 in the Night.
The hospital wrote to the Care Home instructing them to change the dressing on my groin. After no on cleaning the "opening" - I raised the subject with the medical girl who sad she knew nothing about it. So I went & got my letter from the hospital, which clearly stated I was right.
This is call a "care home" but there is very little care - I was treat by some like a dementia patient - (although I was on the ground floor).
I went up to the Activities Room to "paint daffodils for St David's Day. After a while after 11 o'clock start' - animal or flowers print - I was given a box of colloured pencils, told, "colour ten in" - no hello or welcome - I replied that I am an artist - she walked out without a word!
Food boring and no nutritious value at all - I thought for £3800 the food would be good for you
The wine was cheap & sweet
The reception desk is seldom managed
After all those glaring faults the highlight of my stay was a trip in the Mini Bus Jo was kind & courteous & very informative How I wish there were more like her. I do appreciate the do a 13 hour shift and it must be so low & uninspired with that length of work.
The alcove in the dining room where waste food is stacked in a bin

Barchester The Fernes

from Fiona C (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Up front we should recognise that no care home is perfect, given the ratios of staff to residents who often have complex needs.Residents in any care home cannot always have their physical or emotional needs attended to immediately and this is true of the Fernes too. With that said, there are many reasons
why the Fernes is an outstanding care home.
1) The leadership is competent, accessible, responsive, and relatable. In particular the current CEO is a great leader - she goes above and beyond to help residents and their families, knows all the residents personally, meets with them frequently, and the staff appear to admire and support her.
2) There is very little staff turnover. This is important for relationship building and understand of individual needs. Almost without exception the staff are competent and caring. I visit every day and they care about me too.
3) The facilities are lovely - many dining rooms, lounge areas, lovely gardens, and a wide range of engaging activities.

My wife and I were very pleased with the care provided to my sister, who had been discharged from hospital with a cracked hip. The home was able to provide a room for her at short notice and made her very welcome.
All the staff were most helpful and professional and always said hello with a smile.
The facilities were very good and everything was clean, without the stale smell associated with some care homes. The lovely gardens were an added bonus.
There seemed to be a good choice of activities each day and the food looked very appetising.
All in all, we felt that my sister was being well cared for by professionals in pleasant surroundings.
