Barchester Port Manor Care Home

Mum moved to Port Manor Care Home a month ago and from day one the care that she has recived has been second to none. The staff are so friendly, considerate, discreet and caring. Mums quality of life has improved considerably and she now enjoys chatting with new friends in the Bistro, socialising at
lunch and dinnertimes and participating in several of the activities that are arranged for residents. Mum has been out on two day trips and enjoys having her hair blow dried and nails manicured once a week in the hairdressers on site. We have joined Mum for lunch in the private dinning room twice, enjoyed a cream tea to celebrate International Womens Day and have held a family party for 13 people on Mothers Day. The home itself is beautiful, with every detail carefully thought out. Mums room is spacious, beautifully decorated and has a large en-suite wet room, both of which are kept scrupulously clean. The dinning room is set like an expensive restaurant and the food is very good.
Mum is very happy at Port Manor and it is a lovely place for us as a family to visit.

Two weeks post-operative care. The professionalism of the care provided is of central importance and Port Manor delivers this to the highest of standards. However the context in which this is delivered is also central to any residential care provision. In Port Manor, the cleaners, the care professionals,
the management and residents are treated as being part of a caring and loving family - a most difficult 'atmosphere' to create and maintain. However Port Manor achieved this at all times - therefore my short stay was both uplifting and therapeutic. Many thanks.
Reply from Nancy Walford, General Manager at Barchester Port Manor Care HomeThankyou so much for your wonderful words, we were delighted that you chose Port Manor for your post-operative care. A moment we will always cherish is when you hosted a poetry afternoon and enthralled the team and Residents with your beautiful verse- please pop in and see us soon we would love to see you.

My mother has been residing at Hazel Lodge for 18 months now and celebrated her 100th birthday this month (March). She had a wonderful day with family, friends and carers. Everything went smoothly and well, from setting up the room for the champagne tea party, the carers making Mum look special in her
birthday glad rags and the delicious food provided by Chef and his kitchen. Thank you all at Hazel Lodge for making sure this was a very special day to remember.

The care my mum was given was second to none. The friendly, home-from-home atmosphere is evident the minute you walk through the door. The staff went out of their way to make sure mum had everything she needed or wanted. The staff were also very caring to me and helped me with anything I needed. The
accommodation is lovely. Very clean and well kept. The food is lovely with all diets and tastes catered for. The home also provides a full entertainment schedule with something for everyone, consisting of activities on site and external trips and specialist visitors. I cannot say enough good things about Mortain Place. There is nowhere else I would have wanted my mum to be.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
The number of stars I've given in each category is not a reflection of the very good care I've received, but an honest acknowledgement that there is always room for improvement. There is a meaningful difference between good and excellent, and that distinction matters. The home itself is very opulent
and genuinely welcoming for both residents and visitors. A few small adjustments could create an even better environment, though these seem to relate more to corporate decisions than to the individual home. I will be meeting with a member of the management team to share my observations as a service user. Every member of staff has been a delight, consistently kind, considerate, and eager to accommodate me wherever possible during my post operative residency. I heartily recommend it.
Reply from Nancy Walford, General Manager at Barchester Port Manor Care HomeThankyou so much for your thoughtful words. It was wonderful having you in the "penthouse suite" you were the life and soul of Port Manor for your short stay, you kept the laughter flowing with your boundless energy. It was great to meet with you and discuss the small adjustments to the environment that you have recommended which we will of course pass on. Wishing you an ongoing speedy recovery, we are all looking forward to you popping back soon to see the Team.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We couldn't be happier with the care Mum & Dad have received at Wadhurst Manor. They are settling in really well, which is such a comfort to our family.
From the very beginning, the staff have been wonderful. Mohammed, the Home Administrator, carefully explained everything and guided us through the
process with patience and kindness. Catalin, the General Manager, was absolutely brilliant throughout - professional, supportive, & genuinely caring. The nurses & care staff are excellent & clearly dedicated to the residents' wellbeing.
The rooms are comfortable & can be personalised, which really helps it feel like home. A particularly thoughtful touch was the welcome card with lovely words, along with a complimentary voucher for a haircut - a gesture that meant a lot.
The home is always clean & well-maintained. We're truly grateful for the care and kindness shown to Mum and Dad and would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a safe, supportive environment for their loved ones.
Reply from Catalin Gyulai, General Manager at Barchester Wadhurst ManorThank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We are truly delighted to hear how well your mum and dad are settling in at Wadhurst Manor - it means a great deal to all of us.
Your kind words about our teams are greatly appreciated. They work incredibly hard to provide a supportive, compassionate environment, and it's lovely to know their efforts have made such a positive difference to your family.
We're also pleased that the rooms, personal touches, and overall atmosphere have helped your parents feel at home. Creating a welcoming and comfortable environment is something we take great pride in.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and for recommending us so highly. We are grateful for your trust and will continue to do everything we can to support your mum and dad.

Having made the difficult decision to move Mum into residential care, I was so impressed with the care offered at Hazel Lodge. 6 months on, I cannot fault it. The staff are unfailingly kind, empathetic and caring. There is always something on each day, with a clear focus on "use it or lose it." This
has kept Mum mobile and using her mind. Scheduled Dr's rounds give me reassurance that Mums medical needs are taken of. The food is freshly cooked and varied. Due to the onsite kitchen and chef, there is always something that Mum will eat. The grounds are lovely and everything is well kept.
I cannot recommend this home enough.
