I am just completing a one week of respite care at the Wadhurst Manor.
Being the first visit or stay in a care home, I had no idea what to expect while I recovered from a hip replacement. The care I received could not have been more appreciated. Being here for only one week (which was sufficient in
my case) I was limited to how many residents I could meet, the staff were very caring and I never saw one who didn't speak to me and give me a big smile.
Reply from Catalin Gyulai, General Manager at Barchester Wadhurst ManorThank you so much for sharing your experience. As this was your first stay in a care home, we are very pleased to hear that you felt well cared for during your recovery from hip surgery. Even though you were with us for only a week, it means a great deal to know that the staff made you feel welcome, supported, and always greeted you with kindness and a smile. Your feedback is truly appreciated and will be shared with the team.

I recently spent a week at Port Manor Care Home for respite care over Easter 2026. I was delighted with my room which opened onto the patio. The staff were very attentive and professional went out of their way to see you had all you needed. The food was excellent with a nutritious & varied menu served
in a friendly dining room. There was a range of activities to keep you active and I was also able to have my hair done in the salon.
Reply from Nancy Walford, General Manager at Barchester Port Manor Care HomeThankyou so much for your lovely review, it is wonderful to hear you had a nice stay with us over Easter, I will pass your kind words on to the care team who will be delighted. We do hope you will pop back and see us soon.

My mother-in-law moved into Mortain Place, Eastbourne from hospital in March 2026, she is 98 years old. She has settled in well. We have found the staff helpful, friendly and kind, they treat the residents like they would their own parents. The building is very well maintained, the facilities are first
class and the rooms are spacious and airy.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Mortain Place.
Reply from Rob Hobbs, Home Services Advisor at Barchester Mortain Place Care HomeThank you so much for taking the trouble to relay your kind comments. Thank you so much to the amazing Mark who works in facilities at Wadhurst Manor. Mark has made such a difference to my Grandfather's life by not only sorting his television out but popping into his bedroom every morning without fail to check that he has it switched on and the programme selection. This
has transformed his entire day. Mark has really gone over & above. Thank you Mark!

Mum moved to Port Manor Care Home a month ago and from day one the care that she has recived has been second to none. The staff are so friendly, considerate, discreet and caring. Mums quality of life has improved considerably and she now enjoys chatting with new friends in the Bistro, socialising at
lunch and dinnertimes and participating in several of the activities that are arranged for residents. Mum has been out on two day trips and enjoys having her hair blow dried and nails manicured once a week in the hairdressers on site. We have joined Mum for lunch in the private dinning room twice, enjoyed a cream tea to celebrate International Womens Day and have held a family party for 13 people on Mothers Day. The home itself is beautiful, with every detail carefully thought out. Mums room is spacious, beautifully decorated and has a large en-suite wet room, both of which are kept scrupulously clean. The dinning room is set like an expensive restaurant and the food is very good.
Mum is very happy at Port Manor and it is a lovely place for us as a family to visit.
Reply from Nancy Walford, General Manager at Barchester Port Manor Care HomeThankyou, It means so much to us that you have taken the time to write such kind words. I will share your comments with the team who will be delighted. Knowing that your mum's quality of life has improved since arriving at Port Manor is wonderful to hear and something we all strive for as a team, receiving such lovely feedback is a joy. Thankyou.

Two weeks post-operative care. The professionalism of the care provided is of central importance and Port Manor delivers this to the highest of standards. However the context in which this is delivered is also central to any residential care provision. In Port Manor, the cleaners, the care professionals,
the management and residents are treated as being part of a caring and loving family - a most difficult 'atmosphere' to create and maintain. However Port Manor achieved this at all times - therefore my short stay was both uplifting and therapeutic. Many thanks.
Reply from Nancy Walford, General Manager at Barchester Port Manor Care HomeThankyou so much for your wonderful words, we were delighted that you chose Port Manor for your post-operative care. A moment we will always cherish is when you hosted a poetry afternoon and enthralled the team and Residents with your beautiful verse- please pop in and see us soon we would love to see you.
