Bright and attractive. As comfortable as a top-class hotel!
Such friendliness and compassion is shown by all staff, the chef, reception, managers and the 'all important' carers.
The garden is designed for ease of access for a regular walk and fresh air. Colourful plants, even in late Autumn. The
lounge is a lovely area to chat over cake and coffee. I go home totally reassured that John is being left in a place where he is so well cared for. His dementia needs are being met, and he is calmer and happier being in Hazel Lodge. 100% respect and care beyond the basics. I recommend HL. Very comfortable bedrooms, 'like home'.

From my mother's admission to Hurstwood View during the second lockdown of 2020 until her passing just before last Christmas, her care at the home could not have been in better hands. My mother's decline with dementia was treated by staff professionally, with love and respect. The home truly felt like
a home and was always a pleasure to visit. All the staff were fantastic throughout and stepped up another level when my mother needed palliative care. A heartfelt thank you.
Reply from Kirsty Johnson, General Manager at Barchester Hurstwood ViewThank you so much for taking the time to share these heartfelt words. It was a privilege for our team to care for your mother from the moment she joined us through to her final days.
Your Mother was a much-loved part of our Hurstwood View family, and it means a great deal to us that you felt the home provided comfort, respect, and a sense of belonging whenever you visited.

From the moment she arrived, the staff have shown genuine kindness, patience, and compassion. They take the time to get to know each resident personally, and it really shows in the way they care for her day-to-day needs.

The home is always clean, welcoming, and calm, with a lovely atmosphere that

makes it feel more like a community than a facility. My nan is always encouraged to join in with the activities, which she absolutely loves, and it's been amazing to see her so happy, engaged, and well looked after.

Communication with the family is great too - we're always kept informed, and the team are easy to talk to and incredibly supportive.

I'm truly grateful for the outstanding care they provide. Knowing my nan is safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for.

We arrived at Hurstwood View very broken. My mum had lived at another Barchester Home for four years and had the most amazing care and we had all become part of their family. We had presumed and hoped that mum would peacefully pass away there but very suddenly she became very ill, was transferred to
hospital and within 36 hours was put on End of Life Care. As a residential home, the other home could not support her needs and we had to consider her either dying in hospital ( which she did not want) or moving her elsewhere. One phone call to Kirsty and she liaised with Skye at the previous home. It was seamless, we arrived as a family and it felt as if someone wrapped their arms around us and said 'it is ok, we have got you'. Every member of staff showed us so much kindness and made mum so comfortable. There are no words to praise the whole team. THANKYOU is not enough but it is all I have x
Reply from Kirsty Johnson, General Manager at Barchester Hurstwood ViewThank you so much for sharing your experience at such an incredibly difficult time for you and your family. Thank you for trusting us at such a tender time. Our thoughts remain with you and your family.

I am so pleased mum spent the last year and a half at Hazel Lodge. It is smart, clean and a welcoming Home, with lovely decor and a very nice garden. Mum was on Memory Lane on the first floor and I like the fact that there are also balconies to sit on so you don't feel cooped up . Mum's room was very
comfortable with a lovely ensuite shower room. The most important thing though is having the reassurance your loved one is being looked after properly. All the staff at Hazel Lodge are fantastic. They were patient and kind with mum and It was always possible to find out how mum's day was if not possible to visit. There are great activities organised and although she didn't get involved all the time, she was reminded and encouraged to take part when there was live music or dancing which she loved. We will always be very grateful Hazel Lodge was recommended to us and I would also not hesitate in recommending it!

My husband and I came for a week's respite care - I am his carer and needed support while I underwent cataract treatment. Our experience was outstanding. I have not felt so relaxed since my husband's stroke two years ago. Others too all the burden & worry from my shoulders. Nothing was too much trouble
and all the staff were caring and supportive. We would come again just for a break - our little holiday! Thanks to all.

From the very first phone call to Hazel Lodge to arrange a tour, I cannot fault the care, kindness and professionalism of all those concerned with the recent admission of my friend. I sense everyone is sincere and dedicated to ensuring as smooth a transition as possible for new residents in what
can be unsettling times for them. It has a homely atmosphere with all the added extras to set it apart from other homes. As a friend I too have felt supported and have come away from visits with peace of mind, knowing that Hazel Lodge will be looking after my friend in every way that I would wish for myself in similar circumstances.

My Mum had a nasty fall so we wanted her to have some respite so she could be properly looked after while she recovered. I chose Mortain Place as I absolutely loved it as soon as I walked in. The place is gorgeous, lovely soft comfortable furnishings, calming colours, very spacious room and beautifully
clean. But more than that, are the staff. They are truly remarkable, nothing is too much and they go out of their way to ensure Mum is extremely well cared for, she is treated like the most important person. To us, it's invaluable she is happy, safe and comfortable and Mortain Place delivers that in spades!! Mum will be returning again next week for another respite stay and it will just be a matter of time before she is a permanent resident. It's a truly special place!

I cannot praise or thank Kirsty and her team enough for the outstanding care my husband received during his stay at Hurstwood View. My husband was transferred from a hospice after being diagnosed with a brain tumour and was deteriorating rapidly - it was an incredibly frightening and emotional time
for our whole family.
From the very first moment we stepped into Hurstwood View, we were met with kindness, warmth, and compassion. The team cared not only for my husband, but also for us as a family. The home itself is beautifully kept, warm, and inviting, but it is the staff who truly make it something exceptional.
We will always be deeply grateful for the care, support, and compassion shown to us during such a difficult time. Hurstwood View is a very special place, and we feel so fortunate that our loved one, was looked after by such an amazing team.

We had been looking for an alternative care home for several years. At least - somewhere that fitted the bill. A lovely building, modern with traditional values, community is a big part of life at Port Manor and being at the heart of a village makes this possible.
Thank you Port Manor
