Our family member's physical and mental wellbeing has improved remarkably in the three months he has been at Emily Jackson. It is clear that the entire team-including management, nurses, admin, hospitality, activities, and housekeeping-shares a genuine sense of purpose. They are consistently professional,
courteous, and dedicated.A highlight was when the home facilitated a surprise reunion with his wife. This emotional moment left "not a dry eye" among staff and residents. Thank you to everyone at Emily Jackson for giving our loved one his quality of life back.
Reply from Sheryl de Villiers, GM at Barchester Emily Jackson House Care HomeDear Graham, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a moving review of Emily Jackson House. We are incredibly touched by your kind words. Knowing that your family member's physical and mental wellbeing has improved so remarkably during first three months with us is the greatest reward our team could ask for. It was true privilege for our staff to facilitate that special reunion with his wife, moments like this remin us all why we are so dedicated to the work we do. I will be sure to share your praise with our entire team - from our nurses, carers and activities coordinators to our hospitality and housekeeping staff. We are all so glad to have played a part in giving your loved one his quality of life back.

Dad was a resident at Friston House for 18 months before he sadly passed away.
During that time he was shown excellent care, dignity & compassion. We were supported as a family too with understanding & empathy.
It was a difficult decision to come to terms with a realising that Dad could no longer
stay in his own home. We are so pleased that we chose Friston House staff to take care of him. The staff there became part of our family too. They always strive to do their very best. No hesitation to recommend Friston House.
Reply from Ana Pasoi, General Manager at Barchester Friston House Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt review. When we have visited our friend we are always made to feel very welcome by reception staff and other staff that are around. The general atmosphere is one of calm... and happiness all round.
There are plenty of places to meet.. the coffee bar and the lounges... and our friend is obviously very happy
there.
We enjoy our visits!

Last night my friend and I attended the quiz night at Winchester House. This is the first evening event I've attended and both my friend and I had a great time It was really well organised by 'J' & 'T' your members of staff who made everyone welcome and worked the room making everyone feel they were
old friends. Obviously a lot of hard work had gone into the organisation of the event, the quirky questions to break the ice were great fun. Well done to your events team, lovely ladies an assett to your team.

Recently Mum was unwell & needed an urgent respite stay for her husband who she cares for full time. From the moment I phoned Friston House late on a Sunday night to make a frantic enquiry, we felt there was a hope & help on the horizon. The Manager called me on Monday morning & by Tuesday afternoon
he moved in.
When I visited, I was not surprised to see he was unsettled, I know this is common for people living with Dementia. What I found enormously reassuring was seeing how staff interacted with him, knew his name, took time to stop & chat, offered their arm to walk him down the corridor. On the day he was coming home, I sat in the dining room during lunch. He ate soup, a chickpea curry & a big portion of apple crumble & custard. He rarely finishes a sandwich.
Making the decision to place a loved one into care is daunting, emotional & frankly not cheap. But this was worth so much more than money, it meant Mum could recuperate & for a brief time prioritise her own health & rest needs.
Reply from Ana Pasoi, General Manager at Barchester Friston House Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how difficult and emotional it can be when arranging care for a loved one at short notice, and we are so pleased we could support both your mum and her husband during such a challenging time. It means a great deal to hear your kind comments about our team and the compassionate care they provided. Supporting people living with dementia with dignity, reassurance and kindness is at the heart of what we do. We are also delighted to hear he enjoyed his meals so well during his stay. Your feedback truly means so much to us, and we wish your mum and her husband all the very best

Our grandfather first came to Emily Jackson two months ago and from the beginning we were amazed with not only the high level of care and attention to detail but the team really have the time to care and take each individual's needs in to account. Two months on the standards are not only consistent
but the level of care has actually improved further as the team learns more about our grandfather. I highly recommend the home to anyone. Apart from the amazing team the organisation prides itself on ensuring the dignity of all and ensures where possible residents carry on as they would at home and engage as much as they want to in everything from meals to general activities.
Reply from Sheryl de Villiers, GM at Barchester Emily Jackson House Care HomeThank you for the lovely review, Angelo. We are so pleased to hear about your grandfather's positive experience over the last two months. Ensuring our residents feel empowered and well-cared for is at the heart of what we do, and we're grateful for the opportunity to care for him. Our staff takes great pride in getting to know each resident's unique needs and interests, so it's incredibly rewarding to hear that your grandfather feels at home with us. Thank you for your high recommendation - it means the world to the entire team.

My sister, Janette, has been in Friston House since 20/12/25 after being in hospital since September '25 and nhs rehabilitation. The decision to self fund for one month, whilst negotiating with social services, was banked on Janettes stay there from 20/01/25 until 5/05/25, again self funded, whilst
a very long wait for a social worker to be appointed. This happened April '25, she was sat her 5/05/25 and back in hospital 10/5/25. A very poor decision on the part of social worker. Janette is happy here.
Reply from Ana Pasoi, General Manager at Barchester Friston House Care HomeThank you for your message and for sharing your concerns regarding Janette's journey. We appreciate this has been a very difficult and stressful period for both Janette and your family, particularly following her lengthy hospital stay and the delays experienced in social services involvement. We understand your concerns regarding the decision made at that time and acknowledge the impact this had. It is very important to us that Janette feels happy, safe and well supported, and we are pleased to hear that she is happy here at Friston House.

My Mum went into the home for 2 weeks respite, with a view to possibly becoming a full time resident.
She found the home to be beautifully clean with lovely caring friendly staff and the food to be of a very high standard. The room she was allocated was comfortable and she loved the walk in shower.
She took part in a number of scheduled activities on the middle floor but seemed to think the content was aimed at the residents who had a degree of dementia.
The day trip she took to the farm, she found to be very enjoyable.
At the conclusion of her stay, Mum came to the decision that she wasn't quite ready for the experience, this is not a reflection on the home.
She did say that she would possibly return at a later date.
With big thanks to all the kind and caring staff who made her stay so memorable.
Reply from Syndie Parbhu, General Manager at Barchester Herne Place Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review of your mum's stay with us.
