Mum moved here ten months ago, and her transition from living at home has been eased by friendly, attentive & professional staff. The home offers a wide range of activities - being gently encouraged to participate has made a wonderful difference to mums quality of life & happiness
It is good to see mum retaining choice + control over many aspects of her care - she is thriving here. Lovely that family & friends can join her for a meal or cuppa.

It is such a relief to know that she is safe, comfortable & so well cared for.

I enjoyed my 7 days of rest - being waited on - food brought to me. Not having to think of what to buy and cook.

The busy hardworking staff were friendly and our needs were always met with a cheerful smile. Some refurbishing is needed - ie my shower unit was not up to my standard.

From the moment my Mum moved into the care home in April, we couldn't be happier with the care and support she has received. Every member of staff has been so kind, friendly, and welcoming from day one, making the transition much easier for all of us. I cared for mum at home for eight years, and while it was the right thing to do, moving her here has allowed us to build an even better relationship. Instead of being her full-time carer I can now simply enjoy being her daughter again, knowing she's safe, happy, and receiving the best possible care. The staff are like one big family. They genuinely care about the residents and do so much to keep them happy, comfortable and engaged. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they always go the extra mile with kindness and compassion. I can't thank the whole team enough for everything they do. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful care home

Having had to make a sudden transition into care from living independently, and at a very elderly age, I was very impressed by the care, attention and support given to my father-in-law by all the staff and management, which enabled him to settle in very well.

Also appreciative of the fact that I can pop in at any time to visit and to sit with him in any of the welcoming lounge areas, and wonderful grounds,

The first full month for my father as a resident - staff have gone out of their way to make sure he settles as quickly as practical. Never an easy transition from independent living, they have worked hard to understand what works for him / me,

Since the very first moment I walked in with my mum to view Westlake House, it felt welcoming, homely, comfortable and somewhere that my mum could live her best life.
The staff were then, and have been ever since, simply wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble and it is obvious to me that the residents are front and centre of everything that is done at Westlake.
There is a very full and varied activity offering, including regular visits offsite to different local garden centres and places/events of interest. The food is fantastic, the dining room and gardens that they overlook are beautiful. The bedrooms and communal areas are also well decorated, looked after and have a comfortable feel.
All of the staff are just wonderful and the nursing staff are super attentive, responding to even the slightest of changes and/or concerns and keep me extremely well informed.

I have no doubts in recommending Westlake House to anyone looking to ensure that their loved one is well looked after.

Review of Barchester Westergate House Care Home from Ian B (Son of Resident) published on 9 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
After careful consideration we decided this was the best home for my Mother Lesley, and we were not disappointed with our choice, from the minute you meet Paul the manager and his team at the front of house the greeting you receive the minute you walk through the door on every visit was so welcoming.
Once you start to walk through the home you know you have made the right choice for a love one, the staff throughout the home are just magnificent, they keep you up to speed with any incident that may have occurred, but I had no concerns to my Mum's well being as they are so well looked after, I even got cup of tea and a biscuit on every visit.
My Mum sadly passed away at 96 but she couldn't have been in better hands in last years.

Review of Barchester Westergate House Care Home from John D (Brother of Resident) published on 30 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We have been continually and consistently surprised by the standard of care that was afforded to my late sister.
Anne was always clean, well dressed and cheerful whenever we visited her. There were always plenty of staff in the lounge area, and they were always cheerful and really attentive to the residents needs and requests. There were plenty of activities, at least 2 a day.
The home itself was always spotless and free of institutional aromas.
We were assisted in the most professional manner by the management and staff, all of whom seemed very knowledgeable. They were always positive, and the assistance we received was invaluable as this was a completely new experience for all of our family. We were gently and kindly steered through the whole learning experience.
We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have found such a caring environment for my sister who really could not have been looked after any better.
We are so extremely grateful.

John

My mother has been staying at this care home for a little while now, and I've been consistently impressed with the standard of care she receives. The staff are always welcoming, polite and approachable, which makes such a difference when visiting a loved one.
There is a real sense that they enjoy what they do and genuinely care about the residents.
The home itself is clean, well-kept and has a calm, comfortable atmosphere. The menu looks appetising, with a good variety of meals.
They have been extremely accommodating and takes the time to understand my mother's individual needs.

Overall, I feel confident that my mother is in a safe and supportive environment, and I'm grateful to everyone who plays a part in her care.

Hi, I came here on a grant, from the Hospital: this is the first home I have been in. Please, from the initial visit from the Manager, who came to the hospital, I wax put at ease. The place is lovely, clean: the meals are 5. The kitchen staff go out of their way to accommodate our requests. The carers are lovely: the night nurses are friendly, considerate. I'm absolutely amazed at the place basically. We have activities organised daily, which I have enjoyed. I'm really happy here: with real thanks.

I came to visit two lovely residents & to join in with the singing at 11am. Amazing atmosphere in the dining room decorated with Union Jack flags representing V.E.Day. Invited to stay for lunch which was beautifully served. At 3pm I am staying for the sing along. All the staff are dedicated & very caring. Red Oaks is a truly special place.

My Dad is a resident of Red Oaks care home and I honestly can't thank the staff enough. They care for him with such kindness, patience and dignity every single day. The care he receives is amazing and most importantly he is genuinely happy there which means the world to me.

My father came for restbite as his primary carer had to spend some time in hospital. The initial assessment was kind & compassionate and even though it was for a short term stay, alot of time was spent getting to know his interests, hobbies family members etc. There was always engaging activities available. The food options were varied and of good quality. Family members were always made welcome, regardless of when visiting and were well supported through the processes of navigating what was a challenging time.

I had 2 weeks respite care at Marriott House & Lodge Chichester after a cancer operation in March 2026. I found the staff friendly, cheerful, polite & courteous Experienced in their roles. I was given excellent care & shown every kindness, consideration & encouragement. My visitors were made welcome, offered refreshments & invited to stay for a meal. The carers' skills were many & varied - all carried out with confidence & good humour. My stay enabled me to be in a better physical condition after my operation & gave my husband some respite too. Thank you!

My father has been resident since November. Staff have been extremely accommodating of his needs and personal wishes which is hugely important for us as he is a very proud man who has not taken his loss of independence easily! Communication with the front desk reception team and the management has been very kind, efficient and good-humoured. Sometimes messages between care staff are not passed on or fully understood but whenever we have raised this things have been addressed immediately. We are very happy that we chose Kingsland House, they do a brilliant job under sometimes very challenging services - thank you!
