Review of

Canning Court Care Home

from John K (Husband of Resident) published on 12 December 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
I originally left a 5 start review after only 3 weeks of my wife's stay at Cannon Court, however by June 2025 I had completely changed my opinion. In January 2025 my wife had an incident which was described by staff as a 'fall' (although this was unwitnessed). She has a broken nose, badly bruised face
and swollen eye, 12 staples in the other side of her head and severe bruising to her neck (both sides). On arrival at the A&E department in Hospital the doctor asked how she had come to get the injuries and when I said potentially as a result of a fall, she was shocked and stated the injuries were 'not consistent with that of a fall'. My wife suffers from dementia so she could not describe what happened to her. An investigation concluded that there was no witnesses to whatever occurred so it was 'more than likely' a fall! My wife's behaviour was difficult for staff to control and she had regular outbursts but the CH were aware of this and accepted her as a resident.

Really pleased with the care Mum is receiving. The staff are very attentive, caring and reassuring. She has settled in well over the past few months, and it's a real relief for the family to know she is being cared for so well. Can't think of a better place for Mum to be at this stage in her life. Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum has been resident at Heathland Court since January this year, and though she has few words due to dementia, she often remarks "It's nice here" without exception, the staff have been wonderful - warm, kind and attentive. It's great for all the family to know she is safe and so well cared for.
Thank you to the whole team.

All the staff are amazing and take good care of Mum. Tomi, Kim & Dani are especially good with her, getting her dancing and playing games to occupy her and distract her when she is in her wandering mode. The Thursday music session in the Windsor Ward is amazing, really gets Mum going and you can see
how much she enjoys it. I wish there could be more sessions like this for the Windsor Ward.

The care staff and management of the home have been excellent. Our Mum has been treated with dignity and respect and has settled into the home really well. Her room is always spotlessly clean, and she looks clean, happy and well cared for. The meals are always lovely, and she is encouraged to be involved
in all the activities. Having a hair salon on site is a real bonus, and knowing that the doctor is visiting on a regular basis gives peace of mind. Being able to be included in activities is great, and knowing we can book a lunch/meal with her is really nice.

My mother and father both moved into Argyles this year and have settled in nicely.
All the staff at the home are very attentive, polite to the residents. I travel a long distance to see my parents, and I am always allowed to eat with them. This provides a great space and opportunity to catch up.

What a wonderful team at Woodend. Everyone is so welcoming and the initial visit was so empathetic. Each stage was dealt with gently and scaffolded with nurture. It's very difficult time for the family and I feel the whole team understands this from cleaners, cooks, carers, nurses and office staff.
l dare not name anyone for special recommendation for fear of leaving anyone out. An opportunity to say thank you for caring for our dad it feels like home.

The staff and management have made a very stressful time a whole lot easier to deal with. The home is clean and welcoming. The staff seem happy and friendly in their work. The rooms are comfortable. There are lovely communal areas within the home, also a good garden area. Seems to be a strong teamwork
ethic running through the home. I am sure mum is safe in this home.

My wife became a resident when we could no longer care for her safely at home because of her memory and cognitive loss. I am delighted with the care and attention she is now receiving here. All her requirements are dealt with by the staff in a polite and effective manner. This is particularly important
at meal times when my wife needs help with eating and drinking. There are always an adequate number of staff to look after her safely. Good leadership is provided by senior staff. Well done!

Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
My mother has been in Fieldhouse for 12 months, in this time there has been '3' managers, various members of staff have left and now appears to be running with the bare minimum. The activities have been very poor and always seem unplanned and rushed. (lack of staff) It took me 4 months to get regular
updates on my mothers overall health and well being and this was with me visiting weekly. The change of managers doesn't seem to change anything, when I'm there they are always in meetings!!! Please note the majority of the staff are amazing.
