Our annual Care Home Awards 2023 recognises 20 of the top rated Care Homes in each region of the UK based on reviews from residents/service users and their family/friends.
The Awards are based on the Care Home's Review Score, as of 28th February 2023, for a full breakdown of a Care Home's Review Score please visit the 'Reviews' tab on its profile page.
Please note there is no ranking within each of the Top 20 Care Home awards. The current care home review scores on the website do not reflect the review scores at the time of the awards.
Eligibility Criteria for Individual Care Homes:
- Being listed on carehome.co.uk means you are eligible to be considered for an award
- The awards are based on the review score at the published cut-off date of Tuesday 28th February 2023 (not where you are listed on the website, the review score can change on the website any time up to and after the award cut-off point)
- Must have at least 5 reviews published between 1st March 2022 and 28th February 2023
- Regulatory compliance is required as per our specified criteria - click here
- If a care home receives a downgraded rating and is put into special measures within the Award year following the awards announcement, the award will be removed from the profile page
- Care homes will be excluded from the awards or have their award withdrawn if there is a breach of our review policy prior to or following the awards (e.g. we discover fraudulent activity)

There are 3 categories in the Care Home Group Awards:
- Top 20 Large Care Home Groups 2023 (20+ Group Members)
- Top 20 Mid-Size Care Home Groups 2023 (10-19 Group Members)
- Top 20 Small Care Home Groups 2023 (2-9 Group Members)
Please note there is no ranking within each of the Top 20 Care Home Group awards. The current review scores on the website do not reflect the care home group review scores at the time of the awards.
Eligibility Criteria for Care Home Groups:
- The awards are based on the group review score as of the published cut-off date of Tuesday 28th February 2023 (not where you are listed on the website, the review score can change on the website any time up to and after the award cut-off point)
- The group review score is derived from the average of all the review scores of its members with a review score. 75%+ members of the group must have a review score before a group review score can be achieved
- If a care home receives a downgraded rating and is put into special measures within the award year following the awards announcement, the award will be removed from the profile page (for groups if this puts them below the 75% requirement, the group award logo will be removed)
- Groups will be excluded if they have less than 75% regulatory compliant homes in the group or if they have less than 75% care homes in the group (e.g. a group of 2 consisting of 1 care home and 1 extra care housing facility)
